MARK GROSJEAN'S POSTHUMOUS AWARD OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS SILVER MEDALLION IN POLITICAL SCIENCE

Friday, June 8, 2018 - 1:15pm

It is with pride and sadness that we celebrate Mark Grosjean’s posthumous award of the Faculty of Arts Silver Medallion in Political Science at the spring Convocation Ceremony on June 6, 2018. The Silver Medallion recognizes the student graduating with the highest distinction in scholarship in each degree program.

Mark was killed in a skiing accident in March 2018. In a very moving gesture that gave rise to a spontaneous standing ovation by all attending, Mark’s sister, Heidi Grosjean, received the Silver Medallion on his behalf at the ceremony.

Later, Heidi wrote, “Mark never liked standing ovations as he thought they were overused. I feel like yesterday was a perfect example of a worthy standing ovation. He was truly an exceptional young man. While yesterday reminds me of how much the world is going to miss out on, it also reminds me how much I have gained for having known him.”

Her words express the thoughts and feelings of all of us in the Department of Political Science.
