Congratulations to Dr. Jack Lucas on his recent appointment as Director of the Urban Policy Program, housed at the School of Public Policy in the University of Calgary!

The Urban Policy Program is a research program focused on producing refereed publications and shorter briefings on a wide range of urban policy topics, from tax policy to land use planning to governance and policy responsiveness. As Director of the Urban Policy Program, Dr. Lucas will be leading the development of research on urban topics, commissioning papers, and organizing events in addition to assisting students in the Masters of Public Policy program with research papers on urban policy topics.

While the Urban Policy Program has a series of exciting events and papers in the pipeline already--on topics such as public art policy, non-residential property taxes, and research on measuring urban policy priorities in Canada--Dr. Lucas has already begun planning for some new opportunities. Look for a monthly urban policy newsletter, new research on municipal-provincial relations in Canada, and a "Year in Review" survey of Calgarians over the coming months.

In addition to his Directorship with the Urban Policy Program, Dr. Jack Lucas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Calgary as well as an Assistant Editor for the Canadian Journal of Political Science.
