THE MICHAEL A. JENSEN MASTER'S SCHOLARSHIP

The University of Calgary’s second-annual Giving Day is April 26, 2018.  We are asking you to pledge your support for Giving Day, specifically towards the Michael A. Jensen Memorial Master's Scholarship for a student completing their MA in Political Science.  As some of you know, Michael was an exceptional student in the Department of Political Science for many years both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Sadly, he passed away suddenly at the qualifying examination stage of the doctoral program in 2007; he was awarded a posthumous PhD degree by the University of Calgary that same year. His pursuit of scholarship, driven by curiosity and an intellectual passion, epitomized the core values and beliefs of the liberal arts. Some funds were collected in 2007 to initiate a scholarship in his name but they fell short of the intended goal.  A scholarship in his name is a perfectly fitting way to honour his memory. And with the matching opportunity available, this is the perfect time to support this important initiative. All donations of $25 and more will receive a tax receipt and will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500 per gift.

Even though Giving Day is on April 26, you can give right now if you follow the instructions below.

The Giving Day campaign means that your donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $2,500 until matching funds of $500,000 are allocated. You may also contact Siobhan Doherty at siobhan.doherty@ucalgary.ca or 403-220-8291 with any questions or to pledge your support.
